"There’s a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state. The other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people." .. (Commander Adama, Battlestar Galactica)
We are in a drought. The worst one we’ve had in generations.
Yeah yeah, SoCal is making that huge slip ‘n slide but that’s not in our hands to prevent, whereas not dumping gallons of clean water on yourself is.
It’s true the challenge is raising awareness for ALS and I’m genuinely glad of that but just because people are aware doesn’t mean they donate. You and/or your friends might and that’s honestly great, but this is really the latest in a long line of hashtag activism a la KONY and Livestrong.
Some CA communities have 60-120 days of water left and then what? “At least I raised money for a disease before I dehydrate.” I really am glad people are helping out with ALS, but Californians need to fix our home before fixing anything else. Especially since many of our crops feed the rest of the country.
No more raisins for Ohio if we run dry.
